The University of Lausanne was founded in 1537 and it is composed of 7 faculties: Faculty of Theology and Sciences of Religion, Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice and Public Administration in French, Faculty of Arts in French, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Business and Economics, Faculty of Biology and Medicine in French, Faculty of Geosciences and Environment. The university has nearly 14,300 students. The majority of courses are taught in French, only certain courses at post-graduate and or Masters level are taught in English. Its current worldwide ranking is among the top 200 universities in the world.
